Texas Academy Admission Application

The Texas Academy is a high school located on the Lamar University campus. Qualifying students will have completed Algebra II and all other requirements for 10th grade by Fall 2024 in order to graduate high school in two years on the Distinguished Achievement Plan. To complete this application you will need the following:

1) Autobiographical Essay- there are no restrictions! Just tell us about yourself, your interests, and why you would like to enroll in the academy.
2) Name/Email for a counselor or principal, and teacher at your school - You will input this for your recommendation requests.
3) A recent photo of yourself! We like to have this to post on social media if you are accepted! This is optional. If you do not upload a photo we will assume you do not want it published.
4) Upload Unofficial Transcript that includes in progress grades - we will request an official copy from your counselor when they complete your recommender form.
5) $25 Application Fee - All applicants must pay the $25 non-refundable application fee upon submission of the application.

Students who apply and complete the interview process by January 25 will be notified of their admission decision on February 1.

Applications received or interviews conducted after January 25 will be considered for late admission.

Once we have reached 100 students, qualified applicants will be placed on a waitlist.

All final decisions should be completed by June 1.

Recommender Information

Students applying to Texas Academy must list a teacher and counselor recommender below. Once you submit you application, each recommender will receive a ranking form. While you are free to waive or not waive access to your letters, some educators will decline to submit recommendations if you do not waive. Others may not be as forthcoming or candid as they otherwise might be and in turn, the Texas Academy may disregard such evaluations.
